Through the wonderful eyes of technology, we can see any college campus that want without leaving our home... you view pictures of students, lists of courses, read blogs from professors, but there is nothing like visiting a campus in person to fully understand what life on a specific college campus looks like.
(Remember this will be your home for the next two to four years.)
Over the course of your junior and senior years, you should try and visit at all colleges that you might possibly want to attend.
Most all college visits are scheduled online on the college website. (Either you can do this or Mrs. Peterman is happy to help you or do this for you!)
Schedule a visit.
These usually involve campus tours (classroom, dorm, dining, athletic areas if interested). usually lunch is provided to you also.
Make appointments with:
An admissions representative.
The financial aid office.
A professor from your major.
View a list (PDF) of things to find out on a campus visit.
Blend into the crowd to get a true taste of student life.
Walk around the library and class buildings to get a feel for the traffic and environment.
Check out a dorm to see if you'd like to live there.
If you're interested in a special group/club/organization, like a fraternity or athletic team, try to schedule a visit with a sponsor or coach while you are there.
Find student hangouts; then hang out for a bit. Visit facilities you might need:
Bookstore
Restaurants
Shopping
If you can't visit in person:
Attend college fairs.
Talk to alumni.
Take a virtual tour online.
A College Visit form MUST be completed in order for you to receive an Excused Absence for the day you miss to visit a college. You have a couple of options to complete your College Visit Form.
You can either pick up a college visit paper form from the HS Guidance Office to take with you and fill out while on your college visit. Please return the signed form to the Guidance Office when you return to school.
Or you can scan the QR code and complete the google form, answering the same questions that are on the paper form and submit the form to Mrs. Peterman.
