US Bank Stadium. Whether you love Pro Football or not, you can't NOT be impressed with this place. The home of the Vikings is one classy stadium, from top to bottom.
And who's produced the MOST football games in this place? None other than our own BEC-TV.
Each November BEC-TV - in cooperation with Channel 45, the Minnesota State High School League, and GrandStadium.TV - produces FOURTEEN High School football games - The Semifinals of the High School Prep Bowl. As the "official" guys covering this for the MN State HS League, our cameras get to go places that NO others do!
Our regular season Football Crew knows how much energy we put into a single football game at home. The crew arrives at 3 pm and often isn't out till after midnight.
Now multiple that by FOURTEEN games, drop us into a world class stadium, and put our work on the giant monitor in the end zone, over 2000 (!) monitors throughout the stadium, and thousands of viewers across the world, and you start to get a sense of what's involved.
All teams strive to "Make it To State". At BEC-TV, our team - through hard work and dedication - makes it to State every year.
Perhaps the hardest shoot we do all year, this is also considered a favorite. As one tech said: "It's the Toughest Shoot You'll Ever Love!"
BEC typically uses only Bloomington students for its shoots, but this event brings in outside high schools to our program. BEC Staff and Techs will be teaming up in teaching these schools' students how to do a shoot like only we know how. BEC-TV students act as mentors to the students from other schools, who typically do 2-3 games.
Some of these schools have a strong rich tradition in TV production and come in with great skill sets. Others haven't used anything more than the phone in their pockets to shoot video. We take 'em from where they're at and get them up to the skill level to make awesome TV happen.
Students from across the state have reported that working with BEC's advanced equipment, under experienced leadership, and in such an amazing venue allows for a once in a lifetime experience. The entire operation has gained national attention as it's a win-win-win all around. (See the article from the Minnesota State HS League)
The games are all day/evening on Thursday Nov 16, Friday Nov. 17 and Saturday Nov 18.
If there was ever a reason to take a couple days off school for an enrichment activity, this is it.
Students - We've been talking about this for months. It's been on the calendar since late summer. We trust you've kept those grades up and worked ahead on assignments so you can get some time off.
Parents - You'll need to call your kids out for these days. We recommend coordinating with your student and their teachers early to ensure everyone's on the same page.
We'll be sending out an Invitation via Google Calendars to all our current techs. As with all our shoots, we need you to RSVP on the event with a YES or a NO.
Your "Yes" response let's us know that you are Interested and available. No one is guaranteed a spot on this crew. After staff reviews who is interested/available, we will get back to everyone who responds to let you know if you're on the crew. Further production details will be sent out as we approach game dates.
We'll select crew based on each tech's skill level, commitment to our organization, willingness to learn, and maturity, among other swell qualities.
Those who served on the regular Football Crew this fall are shoo-in's. You've earned it!
We like to have our entire crew dressed in BEC Wear for this event. If you haven't ordered yours yet, there is Just Barely Time to get some before the event if you get your order in right away. While we've just updated the Order Form (always available on the Tech Portal) we know that the ONLY options that they can possibly have ready in time for State Football would be the short (and maybe long) sleeve Classic Cotton Mix polo shirts. Jackets, Hats, and SportTek items need to be shipped in and won't arrive in time. (You are welcome to order them. Just don't expect them in for US Bank Stadium)
