Fun Facts

A few more things that make this exciting!

We're Proud!

Yep. We can't deny that we take a lot of pride in what we do with the Prep Bowl. Here are a few nuggets:

BEC-TV and ZEPLAY make History

If you've been around BEC-TV for long, you know that we're incredibly proud to have ZEPLAY replay devices. These are the same replay systems you'll find in professional sports stadiums and broadcast production trucks across the US, and in many other countries. You'll also know that we had ZEPLAY first, 'cuz it was invented here by our very own chief engineer, Brandon McKenzie and former staffer JJ Parker.

And Now ZEPLAY will help BEC-TV make history: The High School league is teaming with us to provide the ref's with Replay Review during the games to ensure they made the right call. While common in pro and college football, This is the VERY first time in the United States that this has been done at the high school level.

Worldwide Audience

Since so many of the teams playing are from out-state Minnesota, proud schools are broadcasting our games to every classroom and entire communities in small towns are gathered in bars and cafes to watch their teams. Oldsters in Arizona watch for a closeup of their grandkids and older siblings serving our country in the Middle East savor the opportunity to see their siblings go for the win.

We've logged viewers in every county in Minnesota, Every state in the U.S. , and 40 countries across the world. What we are doing has a huge impact!

The MetroDome Years

We were first invited to cover the Prep Bowl Semi's in 2010, back when the MetroDome was the home of the Vikings.

In the Dome's final years, nobody produced more football there than BEC-TV!

Super Bowl Buddies

At last year's event, the giant rigs that will be covering the Super Bowl were parked right next to us all week. We got to tour their trucks and hang with their production folk .

Golly, they even borrowed some tools from us! Here's some video that we shot from the hip as some of our crew toured the neighbor's rigs .

BEC-TV's Mentoring Initiative recognized as a National Model

When BEC-TV first teamed with the League, KTSC (Ch. 45), and GrandStadium.TV in 2010, it was a unique partnership.

Still, what's really turned heads is the way our experienced student techs mentor kids from other high schools.

Here's an article all about what we do that the Minnesota State High School League created for their statewide publication MSHSL BULLETIN .
