Congrats! You survived your first year of high school! Although we don't expect you to know exactly what your life after high school will look like, we want to encourage you to begin preparing for whatever that might be. Getting involved on campus, getting to know your counselor, thinking about your four year plan and starting your career and college exploration. Additionally, we have provided some great resources below to help make sure your Sophomore year begins and ends with confidence.

Get to know your counselor. We are here to answer any questions you may have
Counselors will present valuable information for 10th grade students regarding graduation requirements, college entrance requirements, course selection procedures for Junior year and general tips. Presentations can be found HERE.
Check the counseling website and this page periodically.
Review the Student Handbook for updates to policies and procedures.
Check your grades on Aeries regularly. Progress reports and report cards are not mailed so we are counting on you to be logging in to check your grades weekly. Parents can access student records such as grades, attendance, homework and behavior via the internet using the Parent Portal in the student information system, Aeries. Teachers will update grades each week for the previous week.
Start your career and college exploration using CaliforniaColleges.edu. All students have an account that they need to register if they did not already do so in middle school. More college and career resources can be found below.
Time management is crucial in high school. You'll have more homework and more activities to balance-stay organized.
Stay on top of your homework and see your teachers for extra help. Some teachers offer help regularly and some require an appointment. Check with your teacher if you need additional assistance.
Attend tutoring after school. For up to date information on tutoring days and hours check here.
Play a sport, join a club, try out for a school play, attend school events, and do things you love! You are an important part of creating the culture here at BHS.
Attend college and career informational workshops in the BHS College and Career Center. Stay up to date with upcoming events by following the BHS Counseling Department on Insagram and joining the College and Career Google Classroom. You can also visit colleges and universities on your own both in person or online through a virtual webinar.
