University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy – 5-Week Virtual High School Experience

A message from our University of Pittsburgh Admissions Counselor:

I am excited to introduce the PIER Program: Pharmacy Innovation Experience and Research offered by the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.

What: We aim to expose our students to the wide range of opportunities that come with a PharmD (Doctorates in Pharmacy) Degree. In doing so, we bring in expert faculty members from PittPharmacy to talk about their journeys throughout the field. We also emphasize the role of a pharmacist in research, and the innovative fields one can pursue through the many doors opened with a PharmD. We have weekly webinars followed by activities that will engage the students and encourage teamwork. There will be patient cases that the students will work through outside of the webinar sessions, and will receive help and guidance from their mentors, who are all current PittPharmacy students. Throughout our program we also foster professional development by implementing resume workshops and tips on how to have a successful interview. Faculty from the School of Pharmacy will presenting and opportunities to ask questions to currently enrolled pharmacy students and faculty!

When: The program runs from July 3rd to July 31st, with webinars every Monday from 5 pm to 7 pm Eastern Time.

Why: When people think of a pharmacist, they tend to imagine someone filling medications in a CVS, Walgreens or Rite Aid. While those are very important roles that are filled by pharmacists, there is so much more one can do with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree - PharmD degree.  The goal of PIER is to expand students views and allow them to start thinking NOW about the many different fields one can pursue in community pharmacy, Hospital/Ambulatory Pharmacy, Industrial, Pharmacy/Research, Research and Drug Development and Professional Development – just to name a few.

Application Deadline: June 1, 2023. Participation in PIER is free.

For more information and to apply, visit: https://pages.pharmacy.pitt.edu/pier/

Feel free to contact Suzanne Mannino at smm198@pitt.edu for any further inquiries about PIER.

We look forward to receiving your applications and sharing this exciting pharmacy experience with you!

I am the Internship Director at TurnUp, a 501(c)(3) non-partisan non-profit organization dedicated to increasing youth civic education, empowerment, and engagement. We were recently featured in Forbes as the 2022 standout non-profit organization.

I am reaching out to share our Civic Action Remote Internship for your students at Beaumont School. We have been working with students year round since 2019 and have been thrilled by the enthusiasm and development of our graduates! Our capacity has grown to meet Gen Z's passion and we are excited to bring this invitation to students at Beaumont School. Here is the application link.

The program's format is tailored to accommodate the ever fluctuating commitments and responsibilities of a student's lifestyle, our program is fully remote, has rolling admission and has a flexible time frame and schedule. All students have access to grow into more capable and responsible citizens and to develop their professional skills for a successful future.

Students join remote teams that are energized by diverse students from around the country who work on amplifying youth civic engagement. Along with our unique curriculum, peer to peer learning and world-renowned speakers deepen their experience.

Interns can count their participation for community service hours and TurnUp is authorized to give out awards and certificates, including The President’s Volunteer Service Award. The internship has also been invaluable for bolstering resumes, widening networking reach, and for earning college letters of recommendation.

We would like to invite students at Beaumont School to apply. The application link is here and the deadline for applications is rolling.
