There are two new district-wide Google Classrooms that you may want to join. The first is a support Google Classroom where teachers can ask questions, share resources and access resources compiled by the EdTech team and others. The other is a training Google Classroom where teachers may complete modules for 1 hour of certificate renewal credit each.

Flipgrid is a social learning platform that allows educators to ask a question, then the students respond in a video.
The on board tools in Flipgrid include emojis, filters, stickers, an onscreen whiteboard, note pad, and the ability to add your own videos and images.

Tan is a teacher in Vietnam whose schools have been closed since Feb. 8th. Like most of us he had no time to prepare and within two weeks students, teachers, families were overwhelmed and drowning in a sea of links and documents. He said his faculty had to regroup for the longer closing. He shared some of his experiences and tips with Eve during a Zoom conversation.
Spelling City is an on line game-based learning site and app that offers 40+ engaging vocabulary, spelling, phonics, and writing activities to build reading comprehension. It is a great way for younger students to “play” with sight word lists and older students to practice with Word Master lists. They have opened up a longer (90 day) trial period during school closures.
Pear Deck allows you to run a live lesson, even over Zoom, without even sharing your screen (because it pushes the Slides to student devices), but also its student self-paced mode really gives you flexibility when it comes to asynchronous lessons.
The Google Classroom phone app is a great (and easier) way to see/hear notifications. If you have an iPhone, you will see the notifications pop up and stay in your notifications center for review later. If you have an Android phone, you will see a notifications section in the menu of your app.
