Updating to Window 1903

All teachers need to be on version 1903 of Windows. To check your windows version search for winver in the search box in the bottom left of your Windows screen.

If you are running an earlier version of Widows you will need to update. In the search bar type in "update" and click on "Windows Update Settings". Run the update. It could take several hours so please makes sure you have your laptop plugged in, and open during the process (you can lock your screen using the Windows Icon + L.

Boxlight Firmware Update

Panel schools will be getting new Firmware installed in the next few months. This will change the look and some functionality of the home screen on the panels. Schools will receive training along with the update.

Login Support for K-2 Students

For security purposes generic logins can no longer be used on school devices. To help younger students log in try using colored tape rows on keyboards.

Kindergarten teacher, Christine Pinto, co-author of "Google Apps for Littles", wrote a blog post explaining how the process works to help students identify where the keys are one their own.

SCDiscus Password Update

Each August SCDiscus changes the password into their programs, which includes BrainPop Jr.

We are unable to publish the new password to any social media site.

LYS (Label Your...Stuff)

Take the time to label all your issued devices and power cords with your name and school. This will make it easier to identify and return to you in the event it gets misplaced and found.

Update MLP

Teachers should update My Learning Plan with any name and school changes at the beginning of the year. MLP can be accessed through the ClassLink app page. If you experience any problems logging into MLP please contact Carolyn Jenkins at the District Office.

Update Rubicon MAPS

At the beginning of each year you will want to unpin your old maps in Rubicon and pin the new ones. The curriculum MAPS are updated every year and you will want to make sure you have the most current course you are teaching pinned to your dashboard.

Digital File System

it is important to get your classroom setup and organized, it is quite useful to get your digital world organized, too. Whether you store to your computer, an external hard drive, your G Drive or Google Drive, by creating a digital file system, you can easily refer back to all your files throughout the year.

Email Tutorials

When making email signatures make sure to include your name, school, and position. The video on the right will walk you through how to set up, and edit existing, email signatures.

Bingo Baker

Bingo Baker is a website that allows you to make a Bingo game that can either be played entirely online or you can print the cards off.

The site is free to use and a great way to reinforce academic vocabulary with the older students and sight words with the younger ones.

Flipgrid

Flipgrid allows you create prompts your students respond to with video they record on their tablet or ipad.

Teachers use this tool to have students share their learning, reflect on their progress, talk through their thinking and collaborate virtually with peers… to name just a few ideas. To check it out, go to Flipgrid.com,

SC Aquarium Grant

The Aquarium offers free programming to classes through the donation-funded Structured School Program.

Teachers of all subjects are invited to apply. At the close of the application process, forms are chosen at random through a lottery system.

Upcoming Tech Training

The Instructional Technology Team is working on a Saturday tech training plan. The exact date is TBD but we are looking at October.

There will be four sessions taught by our seven coaches throughout the day. The idea is to give teachers some extra tech support and training in a longer and more relaxed format.
