Film Class -- Music Video
In my film class this year, I learned how to use lighting, sound, and editing techniques to write a screenplay and ultimately create and film a music video. This class was an incredible experience that pushed me creatively and gave me skills I never expected to develop. Through hands-on projects, I gained a much deeper understanding of how films are made and how different cinematic elements work together to tell a story and create emotion. It also helped me build confidence in my creativity and collaboration skills. Before this year, I never would have seen myself working on something like this, but the class opened my eyes to a completely new form of artistic expression and gave me an experience I’ll continue to value for years to come.
Letter to The Editor
In my government class, we were given the opportunity to write a letter to the editor of the Canton Repository for a chance to be featured in the newspaper. In my letter, I wrote about the treatment of LGBTQ+ individuals in school districts and the harmful effects that changes to anti-DEI programs can cause. This assignment allowed me to express my opinions on an important social issue while also learning how civic engagement and public writing can create meaningful discussion within a community. It showed me the importance of using my voice to advocate for inclusion, equality, and the well-being of students who may feel unheard or unsupported.
Capstone Project
For my senior capstone, I wrote a handbook detailing how to successfully run the Human Rights Club so that future leaders would have guidance after my co-chairs and I graduate. The project focused on creating a strong foundation for the club’s future by organizing important information about leadership, event planning, advocacy, communication, and creating an inclusive environment for all members. Through this experience, I learned the importance of leadership, organization, and leaving behind resources that can help others continue meaningful work within the school community.
