For my presentation on saving our ecosystems, I focused on the importance of protecting the environment and the small actions we can take to make a difference. To support my message, I organized and participated in a cleanup at a local park where I helped pick up trash and remove litter. This hands-on experience showed me how pollution harms natural habitats and how even simple efforts like picking up trash can help protect wildlife and keep ecosystems healthy. Sharing this with my classmates and their families helped raise awareness about our responsibility to care for the planet.
For our project to thank the cafeteria staff, my group and I wanted to find a meaningful way to show our appreciation for all their hard work. We created a wall covered with colorful sticky notes where students and teachers could write messages of thanks and encouragement. We also organized a small treat by giving the kitchen staff donuts as a way to brighten their day. This project helped me understand the importance of recognizing the efforts of people who often work behind the scenes and showed me how simple gestures can make a big difference in making others feel valued.
For my APUSH assignment, I wrote a news article in the style of the 1890s about President Roosevelt, Taft’s Dollar Diplomacy, and the Panama Canal. I researched how Roosevelt’s leadership helped build the Panama Canal, which was a huge achievement for American engineering and global influence. I also explained Taft’s Dollar Diplomacy, which focused on using economic power to influence other countries instead of military force. Writing in a 1950s style was challenging but fun because I had to capture the tone and language of that era, making the history come alive in a way that felt authentic and engaging.
For my project, I created a slideshow about different careers that you can pursue with a degree in geometry. I researched various jobs where knowledge of geometry is important, like architecture, engineering, computer graphics, and more. I included descriptions of what each career involves and how geometry skills are used in real life. Putting together the slideshow helped me learn more about how math applies outside of the classroom and gave me ideas about future career paths. It was fun to explore how something I study now can be useful in many different fields.
For my project, I created a documentary that explores the prejudice and discrimination LGBTQ people face both in my school district and around the world. I started by researching different forms of prejudice, including bullying, exclusion, and legal challenges that LGBTQ individuals experience. I interviewed students, teachers, and community members to hear firsthand accounts of what it is like to live with these challenges. I also included stories from around the world to show that this is a global issue, not just something happening locally.
Throughout the process, I learned a lot about the courage and resilience of LGBTQ people who continue to fight for their rights and acceptance despite facing hardships. I wanted my documentary to not only inform but also inspire viewers to be more understanding and supportive. Making this project helped me develop skills in research, interviewing, and video editing. Most importantly, it gave me a powerful way to use storytelling to promote empathy, raise awareness, and encourage positive change in my school and community.
During my trip to Costa Rica, I had the incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the country’s vibrant food and culture. I got to taste a variety of traditional dishes such as gallo pinto, which is a flavorful mix of rice and beans often eaten for breakfast, as well as fried plantains, fresh ceviche, and delicious tropical fruits like mangoes and pineapples. Each meal was a new experience that reflected the country’s rich agricultural resources and love for fresh ingredients.
Beyond the food, I learned a lot about Costa Rican customs and daily life. I attended local festivals and saw how music, dance, and family gatherings play a big role in their culture. I was also impressed by how closely connected people are to nature, Costa Rica is known for its beautiful rainforests and wildlife, and the locals have a strong respect for the environment.
This trip gave me a deeper understanding of the values and traditions that shape Costa Rican society. Experiencing their culture firsthand not only broadened my perspective but also helped me appreciate the diversity and warmth of people from around the world. It was a meaningful adventure that inspired me to learn more about other cultures and the importance of embracing different ways of life.
