This assignment was a semester long research project and presentation. I chose the topic of sports injury recovery. This connects to the JAGS pillar of communicate ideas because I was able to communicate my research findings to my peers through my slideshow. I decided to chose this topic as I had recently tore my acl and was going through the recovery process. I also was and still am very interested in the medical field and this project allowed me to dive deeper into medical topics.
This was before I had joined JAGS and might've been one of the reasons JAGS seemed appealing was due to the research and presentation based projects. After I completed this project I realised how much I enjoyed research which was a contributing factor to me joining the JAGS program.
My artifact for freshman year history was my Armenian Genocide Museum. This connects to the pillar of JAGS recognize perspectives because I was able to learn about a genocide that is not often talked about and recognize Armenian perspectives during a dark time in history. This assignment was to create a memorial for the Armenians that died during the Armenian genocide. This artifact changed how I thought because by learning about such terrible times in history I became aware of what we can do to try to prevent genocides from happening again and how we can remember and honor those whose lives were taken.

Familia Website
Freshman Spanish 3
Investigate the world
My artifact for Spanish 3 is my familia website. This connects to the JAGS pillar of investigate the world because even though we didn't travel to Spain, we were able to learn a lot about Spanish culture through our research. Over the year we 'moved' to Spain and researched traditions, food, and architecture. It was a great experience to learn about another culture through the lens of an American immigrating to Spain. We preformed in a talent show to earn money for our 'house' that we picked out and traveled on an a Spanish 'airline'. At the end of the year we documented all of these experiences in our website. I was able to learn a lot about Spanish culture and language through this assignment and class.
My freshmen biology artifact is my enviromental issues project. I was able to research an enviromental issue of my choice and come up with some solutions. This connects to the JAGS pillar take action because I was able to inform my peers about an issue and give them solutions that they could integrate into their lives. This showcased my JAGSness because I was able to investigate a global issue and propose solutions. It also demonstrated my care for the enviroment which would become a core part of my JAGS projects when I joined JAGS the next year.

Candy Drawing
Freshman Drawing 1
communicate ideas
This was one of my Drawing 1 projects where I had to take halloween candy, arange it, and draw it realistically. This connects to the JAGS pillar of communicate ideas because this class gave me another way to communicate my ideas, by drawing them. After taking this class I realized there were other ways to communicate my ideas and persuade others than just through language. I discovered that visual arts can be used just as good as, or even better than, a simple slideshow or essay to prove a point. This class gave me a new perspective on how to communicate my ideas.
