Trip to Europe
My JAGS trip to Europe was an incredible journey that impacted my understanding of the world. From the iconic landmarks of Paris, France, to the charming streets of Munich, Germany, and the breathtaking beauty of Lucerne, Switzerland, each destination offered a unique cultural world. Exploring the majestic Swiss Alps and the fairy tale Neuschwanstein Castle felt like stepping into a dream, while visits to Liechtenstein and Salzburg, Austria, provided glimpses into distinct European histories and traditions. Beyond the stunning sights and amazing food, the trip was a testament to the "investigate the world" pillar, allowing me to forge new friendships and experience firsthand the diversity of European life. I can't wait to go back and continue exploring!
My participation as a delegate of Denmark in the Model UN conference was an experience, a unique opportunity to investigate the world from a diplomatic perspective. Researching Denmark's policies and perspectives on global issues forced me to delve deep into international relations, economics, and human rights. Representing a sovereign nation in debates and negotiations, I gained invaluable insight into the complexities of diplomacy. Beyond learning about specific world issues, the conference honed my public speaking, critical thinking, and collaborative skills.
My CCP Comp 2 final capstone essay, focusing on the romanization of mental illness, was a significant academic challenge. It pushed me to analyze how mental health is often misrepresented in popular culture and the real-world impact of such portrayals. This project honed my research and analytical skills, deepening my understanding of societal narratives around mental health.
A Hope More Powerful than the Sea
My Spanish IV final presentation on Costa Rica was a significant accomplishment, not only for the depth of research but because I delivered the entire presentation exclusively in Spanish. This immersive experience pushed my linguistic abilities to their limits, requiring me to articulate complex information about Costa Rican culture, geography, and society with fluency and accuracy. It was a true testament to my progress in the language, demonstrating my ability to move beyond basic conversation and engage in a comprehensive, academic discussion about a Spanish-speaking country, truly fulfilling the "investigate the world" goal through direct linguistic application.
