English/JAGS English 10: GO Night
Teacher: Mrs. Muckley
September 21, 2023- November 16, 2023
Reflection:
This artifact was by far my favorite project I completed for JAGS. The end goal of the assignment was to find a issue within our community/world, and work in a group to help make it better. My group decided to work on the global issue of dogs in shelters, and the effects of being in a shelter. We found this issue not only important, but also interesting and exciting to take part in.
This project focused mainly on the pillars of Communicate Ideas and Take Action. In JAGS you learn that with these huge projects, communication is key. As a group we separated who would do what, which helped keep out project organized and secure. We also took action by volunteering at the Stark County Humane Society. As well as also successfully raising over 500 donations for the local dog shelter. Another fun part we got to use to raise awareness for our project was bringing in a polar pup for our presentation, this helped with keeping the project light-hearted and fun.

History/JAGS American History: Documentary
Teacher: Mr. Walsh
April 17, 2024 - April 28, 2024
Reflection:
The documentary is so far the biggest project we had to do in JAGS yet. There were hours of research, interviews, filming, and editing (thank you Haley) that were needed to create a 15-20 minute video. Our group focused on the importance of art in education. We used 3 countries to show different perspectives of schools and art. The countries we used were the United States of America, Finland, and North Korea. Each of these countries had vastly different ideas of art in education, which created an interesting contrast throughout the documentary. Throughout the whole process of the project we had checkpoints with our assigned teachers that also gave us more ideas to enhance the project. Our final product was then shown to a film expert. He asked us questions about the process and the new information we learned. Even though it took an extreme amount of work, it was refreshing to see everyone's reaction to the documentary and the positive reviews.
It's no surprise this assignment incorporated all the JAGS pillars of Investigate the World, Recognize Perspectives, Communicate Ideas, and Take Action. Our group investigated how every country either used or didn't use art to enhance education, and the reasons behind why. We recognized different perspectives of students in different schools or grade levels, and the importance to each individual. It was necessary to communicate every idea we had and wanted to use within the final product. And we took action by interviewing students, teachers, and experts to find the importance of art.

Co-Curricular/Extra Curricular: Costa Rica
Advisor: Mr. Knopick
February 15, 2024- February 19, 2024
Reflection:
The Costa Rica trip truly made all the projects and homework from JAGS worth it. The trip was 5 days, and we were able to visit so many different spots on the island. I felt so grateful to be able to go on a vacation with all my friends. We were all able to get closer as a group, with the long hours traveling, and the beach days.
This trip reflected the JAGS pillars Investigate the World and Recognize Perspective. We saw the common foods eaten in Costa Rican culture. We also saw examples of the animals on the island, by going on hikes and walks. During those hikes we saw sloths, monkeys, and snakes. Which are animals that are not common in Ohio. We were also able to see the stunning views of the beaches and rivers. I appreciated that we got beach days to enjoy the waves and sun. As a group we completed so many activities such as white water rafting, which is something I never thought I would do. Even traveling as a group was fun, we all switched sits and talked for hours. Sharing hotels with my friends was also fun, even if we got locked out once. I took back so many different memories and information from this trip, which I am grateful for. This trip was one of my favorite vacations I have ever gone on, the experience was so much better with having my friends to experience it with me.

World Language/Spanish 2: Advertisement
Teacher: Mrs. Dennison
April 22, 2024
Reflection:
This was one of the many projects we did in Spanish 2. The instructions of this assignment were to create a 30-60 second advertisement over a clothing item that would interest an audience in all Spanish. The item we chose was a white converse shoe, we described its characteristics, the reasoning to buy it, and our opinion on it with the vocabulary we learned so far.
This used the JAGS pillar Communicate Ideas, for the project to work and be successful partners needed to talk in and outside of school. We had to write a script and address all the key points without repeating ourselves. In JAGS it is mandatory to have 4 credits of a language, I found this extremely useful to grow my global education. This project helped showcase my Spanish speaking skills and find gratuity in JAGS for having students take a language.

Science/Chemistry: Mole Day Project
Teacher: Ms. Arter
October 23, 2023
Reflection:
This was the only project we did in out Chemistry class. We had the choice to paint, sew, or make a video, that represented mole day. Mole day is the day where chemists celebrate Avogadro's number 6.022x10^23. We had recently learned about this unit and it was exciting to showcase our chemistry into art. Out of all those options I decided to paint a ceiling tile. My idea was to make a "Sherlock Molmes" inspired tile.
I used the JAG's pillar of Communicate Ideas. We communicated with our peers on ideas of what to paint/create, and we also communicated with Ms. Arter to discuss our ideas for the project. This project encapsulated our creativity and was a step out of the usual stressful class. This project was happening during our work days for GO Night and I appreciated the break from the homework and assignments we would have received if we were not doing this project.
