ENGLISH - Thank You Challenge
During my sophomore year, I took action by participating in the Thank You Project. The objective of the project was to give back to service workers in the community. I felt connected to those in the Nursing Field as they have done so much for my family and I have many family members that currently work in the medical field. We took action by making them a self care/ relaxation basket. We also made. a batch of chocolate chip cookies for them! Prior to this project I really never thought about the importance of nurses taking time for themselves. To the outside eye it just seems like a casual job. You go into work, do your job, clock out, and go home to your life. However, the lives of nurses is so much more than that. Many of them are on call all hours of the day anxiously awaiting a page, and the mental health aspect of nursing is also severely looked over. Many of them see the most traumatic things a person can physically go through. Those images don't just go away they stict with the nurses forever.
Being able to give these nurses even the slightest bit of relaxation was something that helped make me feel a sense of fulfillment. When this project was introduced it started as an assignment that I needed to check all the boxes for but soon turned into something that I was passionate about. So from there my group members as well as some classmates wrote thank you notes to the nurses which they were also very appreciative of. This project taught me to take action for those that are overlooked and help those who do so much for others.

WORLD LANGUAGE - Mes De La Herencia Hispana
While in Spanish 2 we did another hispanic heritage project for hispanic heritage month. This time around rather than researching about the different traditions I actually participated in them! I also tried some food from the hispanic culture and even attempted to cook my own. I tried to make churros and learned it is actually quite harder than it looks! This gave me a new found appreciation for food in the hispanic culture as many of the things they cook take skills and meticulous efforts.
This project and class as a whole helped me to advance as a JAGS students by advancing my skills and knowledge of cultures around the world. Moving forward I am now able to better communicate with Spanish speaking individuals effectively. I also can now share cultural and participate in cultural traditions they practice as I have advanced my knowledge about them! Spanish as a whole has helped me to be more globally competant as a JAGS student because it helps me communicate and can even help others to better communicate their needs!

Recognize Perspectives
AP U.S History- Podcast Assignment
During APUSH with Mr. Taray sophomore year we were assigned a project where we have to debate 2 different perspectives of different issues and groups within the 1920's. Myself and two other girls decided we were going to do a debate about prohibition. We created a 5 minute "news broadcast" and presented it to the class. We had two different historical figures acting as wets (anti-prohibition) and drys (prohibition activists).
This project forced us as a group to recognize both sides of the argument and make strong unbiased claims and supports for each side. Debating and recognizing perspectives is alot of what JAGS is about. Even if you don't agree with one side of an arguments respectiing and recognizing where someone is coming from and allowing them to speak their side is a skill I have obtained from JAGS. This projected helped me to do so. This helped me to become globally competent as it taught me to have a calm debate and showed me that not all debates have to come to a definitive consensus.
‘CO-CURRICULAR/EXTRA CURRICULAR’- Costa Rica Trip
The Costa Rica Trip was definitely the highlight of my sophomore year. The trip was so fun with my friends but not only that, it helped me to see what people live like each day around the world. In Costa Rica there were a variety of things I learned that differ from the way we do things here in America. I investigated the world the most throughout our hikes we went on. The wildlife and plant life I saw in Costa Rica was the most interesting to me because a lot of these animals I have never seen in the wild just in zoos. I saw monkeys, toucans, scorpions, and tarantulas. The plant life was also so beautiful and it was very refreshing to go to a country that prioritizes their environment and lets nature be compared to the damages and disregards our country has to the environment and its well being.
During this trip I also engaged and talked to people in JAGS that I don't usually on a daily basis. Some of these people I don't have classes with or just aren't people I naturally gravitate towards. The time I most felt like I was able to communicate ideas was during the white water rafting. Our raft was the one filled with all the fruits the group was going to enjoy by the end of the ride so we went on a completely different path than everyone else. During this we hit many bumps and alot of us almost fell out, but the all worked together and communicated in ways that got us successfully to the end of the route! Also during the white water rafting trip our guide was speaking a lot of spanish and english. Being able to understand him for the most part in each language also felt as though we were communicating our ideas. Overall, Costa Rica was a huge highlight of my JAGS Journey thus far and I am grateful I was able to visit and it helped me to better communicte ideas around the world helping me to become a more globally competent JAGS student.

SCIENCE - Mole Project
Sophomore year in chemistry we were assigned a project to creatively display the equation for moles, something we used quite frequently in the class. For this I chose to paint a ceiling tile so that it could stay in the class forever.
This project taught me forsure that procrastination is not going to get me through sophomore year in the ways in did through freshman year. I learned that if I wanted to get things done in a timely manner as well as get them done efficiently and in a way that I am proud of I will have to manage my time better. I learned that taking actions takes thoughtful planning and cannot just be thrown together in one night. I foresee this skill helping me with future JAGS projects. I learned that taking action may seem like a burden but it always pays off in the end and that working hard on something to be proud of it is better than rushing the process.

EXTRA- Go Night Project
Go Night sophomore year was one of the most difficult yet rewarding projects I have done so far. The amount of work and effort put into this project is something I will forever be proud of. Our group decided to put our attention on animal exploitation an issue each of us feel deeply resonates with our morals. As a group we raised money and donations to donate to a cruelty free farm in Uniontown. The name of this is Stahls No Harm Farm, they are a farm that take in abused or abandoned animals. There the animals are provided with respect and humanity, something many of them are not given in their other homes.
As a group we volunteered there a few times where we helped to clean up and interact with all the different animals. We also were able to donate all the items that we received including old towels, blankets, and even food. The owners of the farm were very gracious and taught us more about what goes on behind the scenes of mass manufacturing companies. We wanted to spread that message to our audience as well and we did so by showing graphic photos and videos released about farming industries. We did not do this to scare our audience though, we did it to show them the truth, and show them exactly what they are putting their money towards. Our group took actions and we aimed to influence others to take actions as well. This project I would argue was the most I have ever took action as a JAGS students and I know it has stuck with me and others they were in attendance of our presentation something all of us JAGS students aims for.
