JAGS Heifer Village School Trip
SPANISH I - Spanish Culture Project
JAGS Bio - Environmental Issues in Colombia Project Poster
Heifer was pretty fun. I really enjoyed seeing the two historical places (Flight 93 Memorial & Harper's Ferry Historic Park). Flight 93 Memorial, I think did a really good job at trying to let people who did not experience 9/11, feel what it may have been like to live then. It also made it so anyone who did legitimately experience it, cry. Harper's Ferry was cool to see, not because of the history that happened there, but because it showed you architecture and buildings from that time which was really interesting to me. They also had some really great ice cream.
The camp at Heifer wasn't quite as great, the food tasted terrible, there was a really long and uneven path to get to the cabins, and the cabins weren't the best either. I'm glad I didn't spend more than a day in those cabins. Now the Heifer Village on the other hand, was great. In the time it took to cook and collect resources and everything else, you got so comfortable in the huts that you didn't even care about all the bugs by the time you went to sleep, except for Lower Mozambique, hornet nests are harder to ignore. Overall, it was a really great experience, trading items, cooking over fires, sleeping in the "outdoors", although the only people who really tried to represent their country/group were the Refugees.

JAGS World History - Investigate the World - JAGS GO Night Project - Environmental Issues in Colombia
I completed this project on Colombia with my partner, Tomiko Duke. This project represents the JAGS pillar to investigate the world. Researching for this project was very interesting and I learned a lot of facts and information that I did not know. It was mainly about the many environmental issues in Colombia, including deforestation, fracking and pollution. This was the first JAGS project that required me to learn about other countries' current events and environmental issues. We presented this at the JAGS Global Opportunities Night. This project expanded my understanding of global issues and required me to work on my presentation skills.
This project aligns with the JAGS pillar Investigate the World, because to complete this project, we researched Colombia´s government, recent history, economy, and environmental issues. Learning about another country´s government is always very interesting because there are many differences from our government, and learning how other countries´ governments and laws work is a lot of new information and expands my knowledge of global perspectives. This work shows my ability to research real-world issues and consider global perspectives, two qualities necessary for JAGS.

JAGS English 9 - Communicate Ideas - Classic Cars 101 Website Creation
During my freshman year in JAGS English 9, I created a website called Classic Cars 101. This project was not only fun but also educational as it gave me the opportunity to research, write, and organize information about classic cars, a subject I’ve always been interested in. I designed the layout of the website and put in a lot of information about cars of that decade, certain models, and showcased some of the best cars of the decade, and my favourite part, inserted old car advertisements at the bottom of the page. This assignment demonstrated my ability to organise information and present it in a digital format, which was a new challenge for me as a freshman.
This artifact represents the JAGS pillar Communicate Ideas. By creating a fully functional website, I shared my research with a broader audience, demonstrating my skills in both writing and digital design. It proved my ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and creatively. I believe this project reflects my best quality work in JAGS English 9 because it combined research, writing, and visual design, which are skills I had, and developed them further.

JAGS World History - GO Night Presentation - Investigate the World - North Korea and Cuba
This project I worked on alongside three other people. It challenged my ability to work in a group and meet a deadline. For this project, we researched the culture, history, government, art, and other aspects of two countries, North Korea and Cuba. It is pure coincidence that both of these countries have a lot of history with nuclear weapons. I worked on Cuba with my partner, Corwin Wallsbroad, to research and present Cuba's government, cultural influences, and many details of its history.
This artifact represents the JAGS Pillar "Investigate the World". Through this project, I learned a lot about two countries that have a very different culture and history from our own. While doing deep and detailed research into their government and complex histories, I learnt a lot about international relations and conflicts, including nuclear tension. This reflects my JAGS-aligned ability to complete detailed research, think critically, and collaborate with others to get a project done.
Spanish 1- Spanish Culture Project -
Recognise Perspectives
I completed this project in my freshman year of Spanish 1. The assignment was to research 3 different foods or art, or another aspect of a Spanish country and recreate it. For the project, I drew a famous Spanish painting, a Spanish drink, and a common Spanish craft. I also researched their cultural significance and presented the research along with my recreation of it. This project taught me more about the culture of Spanish-speaking countries and showed my creativity.
This artifact represents the JAGS pillar, Recognize Perspectives. By exploring some of the cultural practices and art of Spanish-speaking countries, I expanded my understanding of different worldviews. This project reflects my best work because it required me to combine language skills with learning about other cultures, which are two things central to JAGS.
