JAGS Europe Trip 2025
France
Visiting the Eiffel Tower was a memorable experience. I loved going to the top and got a ton of pictures. And by a ton, I mean A LOT. Speaking that I have almost 1,500 pictures from Europe, you can imagine how many of those I took from the top of the tower. It was also breathtakingly beautiful at night towering above the city.Paris at night was lovely. It felt a lot more peaceful compared to the hustle and bustle of the day and everything was lit up. Seeing all the beautiful old buildings with lights shinning on them provides for a wonderful atmosphere. My favourite two parts of France was the boat ride at night, and seeing the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower.HISTORY
France seemed to be the country we did the most in, and it was easily the most interesting country history-wise. We saw the palace of Versailles which was over the top with gold and other lavish details. They had roves made of literal gold. The New Swan Castle was my favourite castle. It had so much intricate detail and time put in to every design but it felt like the designs had a purpose other than to look rich. The woodworking alone would have taken years and were truly beautiful. A lot of the fine details were painted, and a lot on the walls were painted especially in the theatre and throne room. But it felt less lavish. The walls had detailed painted designs instead of marble, and the ceilings has beautiful paintings, instead of solid gold.Art & Culture
France was the country we went to see art in, and it had art everywhere. The French love art and have many museums and many old houses are filt with art as well. French culture is interesting, they seem to be very impatient people and are always in a hustle. In lines, restaurants, stores, cashiers, when crossing the street and whilst driving, they are always moving very quickly. The Swiss are much slower, at least in the german part. Overall it felt a lot more at ease and friendly. Germany, at least within the shopping centre was bustling with people and things moved fast due to the amount of people, but we did not feel nearly as rushed as in France.Europe vs US
Germany was the country that felt the most similar to the US. Their cities, although old, had a lot less old architecture than France overall, and within the city a lot of the older buildings were upgraded. Although we did not see this as much in Münchën, when we were driving to the Nazi work camp, we passed a lot of modern and unique architecture, much like we see in the US. Except that it was German engineered, meaning every modern building was very unique and an architectural marvel, unlike our modern city buildings, where only few are unique and even less so are marvels. France felt the completely opposite of the US with very different attitudes, and Switzerland was the most peaceful and enjoyable to stay in.JAGS Europe Trip- Recognise Perspectives, Communicate Ideas, Investigate the World
Going to another country is absolutely the most JAGS thing one can possibly do. I was challenged to use basic French which I did not know at the time. I did get to use my Spanish skills with a couple of shopkeepers in France. I learnt so much in all of the country because they were so different from our own. France especially was its own world. In Europe I learnt a lot about how things can be done different to achieve the same end goal (sometimes better too) than the United States. I especially loved the amount of recycling but I was very dissapointed with he amount of afforestation in France and less so, Germany. In conclusion, Visiting another country represents every single JAGS pillar in some way and this trip really helped me learn and see so much more. This trip was easily the best trip I´ve ever been on and I would love to visit Europe again at some point in time.
JAGS Model UN, Take Action: Political Parties Resolution
During my junior year model UN we were tasked with writting a long and detailed resolution to solve a problem of our choice within america. I chose sustainability and air pollution and created a detailed, 3 page resolution with several ways to increase sustaianbility with production and energy and reduce air pollution using regulations and insentives. It was challenging to figrue out solutions working through the complexity of government regulations, business processes, and figure out ways to ensure these solutions are followed through and effectivly
English 11, Communicate Ideas, Technology Essay
During my English 11 year, we had a write an essay about a piece of technology and explain how it affected a certain aspect of life, job, or field. I was assigned to simulation models and how they affect business. I analysed how these models help businesses produce merchandise. Simulation modelling streamlines the production development process and reduces errors and issues.
This project demonstrates the Communicate Ideas pillar by challenging me to share this research in a clear and engaging essay. I demonstrated my ability to effectively communicate challenging ideas and make them understood to a broader audience. This essay further reflects my ability to complete detailed research and effectively communicate an idea.
Spanish 3 Communicate Ideas: National Spanish Exam - 04/23/24
The artifact that I am choosing for Spanish 3 is my Bronze Medal Mention award. There is a National Spanish Exam with 4 levels of achievement awards. That year, I got an award for the third level of achievement. This recognises my Spanish skills and commitment to learning a new language.
This artifact connects to the Communicate Ideas pillar. learning a second language is essential for cross-cultural communication, and this accomplishment highlights my ability to express ideas and connect with people from different backgrounds. There is nothing that shows the JAGS Pillar "Communicate Ideas" more than learning an entirely new way to communicate.
Algebra 2, Investigate the World, Math
Throughout my year of Algebra two, I have completed many math assignments. During Algebra two, I have had to work on getting help when I do not understand things and completing my work on time. Math classes above most classes teach me better responsibility in completing homework daily. Although Algebra is not really a JAGS class, Math is universal, and Math is technically investigating how the world works, but through math. And it teaches me life skills by challenging me, which is something JAGS does.
