JAGS English 10 - English Final Essay on the history of religion in Europe

JAGS Costa Rica Trip
Spanish 2 - NSE Honorable Mention Achievment
JAGS Chemistry - How Does Air Pollution Affect YOU? Documentary Project
Starting with the culture that I saw, costa rica is extremely different from the US. Many of their towns and cities look poor compared to our country's. While Costa Rica is the most wealthy country in South America per capita, they are still a third world coutnry. I saw many houses made from only metal and wood, with bar as windows. The city of San Jose was a lot nicer, and extremely large for a city that houses only half of Costa Rica's population (aproxemtly 1 million people). The city was bustling at all hour since Costa Rica has 3 main work shifts and nothing shuts down overnight.
I had many new experiences in Costa Rica including ziplining through the rainforest and white water rafting. White water rafting was extremely fun and I really enjoyed it. Ziplining was utterly terrifyng and only got remotely fun once adrenline kicked in. The last zipline was the best/worst. It was extremely long and I went from one mountain to another with a whole bunch of really big trees way below me. Utterly terrifying but at the time, I had a lot of adrenline, it was a really really great view. I wish I had a camera to show the view but it was a truly once-in-a-lifetime view.

Spanish 2, Communicate Ideas: National Spanish Exam - 04/23/24
The artifact that I am choosing for Spanish 2 is my Honorable Mention award. There is a National Spanish Exam with 4 levels of achievement awards. That year, I got an award for the fourth level of achievement. This recognises my Spanish skills and commitment to learning a new language.
This artifact connects to the Communicate Ideas pillar. learning a second language is essential for cross-cultural communication, and this accomplishment highlights my ability to express ideas and connect with people from different backgrounds. There is nothing that shows the JAGS Pillar "Communicate Ideas" more than learning an entirely new way to communicate.
A Tree A Day Makes the Carbon Go Away
JAGS GO Night - Take Action & Communicate Ideas - Local & National Deforstation - 11/19/23
For sophmore year JAGS Global Opportunities night I worked with Greyson, William, and James on a project to inform others about deforestation and present a solution. For the service portion of the project I made 100 kits for tree planting, which included a biodegradable pot, compressed soil, and maple tree seeds. I gave them out during GO Night and in the commons, and was able to give away all 100 trees, and I recieved proof that over 50 of them were planted. The main puropse of the kids were to rais awareness and inspire direction action to counter deforestion and show people just how easy it is to do something.
This project demonstrates the pillar Take Action. By creating a hands on service project and raising awareness about deforestaion, I contrubted to enviormental sustainability. Although this project only benifited the local community, this project can inspire bigger projects with wider reach. This project shows some of my best quality work in JAGS and demonstrates leadership, initiative, and grew my ability to influcence the actions of others.
Religion in Europe: An Overview
JAGS English 10 - Recognise Perspectives - Essay Project on Religion in Europe - 05/01/23
The artifact I am choosing for JAGS English 10 is my 7-page final essay on the history and development of religion in Europe. This essay explores the complex role of shaping cultures, governments, and societies in Europe. I analysed the ways religion influenced behaviour, national identity, country and government development, and how religion impacts the lives of the people following it. This essay looked deeper into 3 specific countries: the UK & Ireland, Norway, and Germany. This essay helped develop my research skills and form a well-rounded informational essay. When writing this, I gained a lot of insight into people, cultures, and countries in Europe.
This essay well represents the Recognise Perspectives Pillar. By examining how religion influences various European countries differently, I demonstrated my ability to consider viewpoints and understand cultural context. This showcases my best quality work of this pillar because it reflects my understanding of complex social and historical dynamics and my ability to communicate these effectively to others.
JAGS Chemistry - Recognise Perspectives - How Does Air Pollution Affect YOU? Documentary Project
This project is my pride and joy, JAGS Summit Night documentary project. I completed this 16-minute video without a group, interviewing 3 people and covering 3 different countries. For this project, I had about half the total time of the project due to my group splitting mid-way through. Although the documentary was not shown at Summit Night, it still got an excellent grade. I had to manage my time efficiently, problem solve quickly, and work through unexpected challenges, which I did successfully.
This artifact represents the Recognize Perspectives pillar. By covering multiple countries and personal perspectives, I demonstrated my understanding of how air pollution is a global problem with diverse local effects. This work reflects my resilience, creativity, and determination to complete a major project despite obstacles.
