About Me

Welcome to my Primary Years Programme Exhibition website. Here I will show you my learning journey.

I am Chloe Leung, I went to Beacon Hill Primary School in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong. I was born in Hong Kong on the 16th of July 2009. My mum is from England but the rest of my family are from Hong Kong and China. I live with my parents, grandparents and my little sister, Kathryn who is 4 years younger than me. I am easily influenced by movies and songs, which is probably the reason I have had many different goals and dreams, from being a singer to being a policewoman. Now, my current interests are psychology, medicine and cooking. I hope to be a psychologist, psychiatrist, psychotherapist or a doctor. My inspiration to carry out a role in the medical field is perhaps due to the fact that my mother is a doctor. I have started researching psychological disorders in my own free time.

During this school year, I have learnt an extraordinary amount. Compared to the years before, this is the best year so far. My biggest achievement this year is getting through Outward Bound Camp. It might not sound like much but I was in a low point and camp really lifted my spirits. The teamwork in the team was terrific. We supported each other even if we weren’t friends, but slowly we became friends. One of the biggest challenges for me was the Jetty Jump. Since I am afraid of the sea and on top of that I lost my swimming goggles, so I had to borrow my friend’s pair but despite this I did it and I loved it. Even though I choked every time, I jumped three times. Outward Bound helped me to grow mentally and physically.

There are many new things that I will have to face during middle school but I am willing to get through them. I am a little worried about the teachers and student in the same school as me since I have been bullied before. I am also worried about the language classes like Mandarin, Japanese and Spanish because Mandarin has put a lot of stress on me in the past and I am afraid that I won’t be able to do well. Although there are a lot of things that I am worried about I am also excited about the new opportunities the new school brings. There are also a lot of lessons/courses that I am interested in. For years 7 & 8 I am most excited about science lessons because I have had a random interest in science for the past 2-3 years and really wanted to deeply learn about the science of the world. In years 9-11 there are courses you can choose, these are the courses I am interested in: A Food Lover’s Guide to Culture and Capturing Sweet Indulgence, which are both cooking courses (Capturing Sweet Indulgence focuses on desserts). I love cooking and I want to have the opportunity to cook more and invent new dishes. Outdoor and Adventurous Education is another course that I am interested in since I have loved rock climbing since Year 2. I also really like water activities and exploring forests, thanks to outward bound camp and would like to improve my physical endurance. I fully understand the difficulties, risks and challenges of these courses and I am willing to overcome them. For the final 2 years of secondary school, the IB diploma subjects I am interested in are Psychology SL and Biology SL while the BTEC course I’m interested in is Performing arts. The reason why I would choose biology and psychology is because I want to be a psychologist, psychiatrist or a psychotherapist one day. I also want to take biology since I also want to be a doctor or surgeon too. Last, I want to take the course: Performing Arts since I enjoy acting. (I learnt what courses there are thanks to this: http://is.esfdev.com/curriculum/about-island-futures/)

This site is designed to make you understand me as a person and as a learner. I hope that your questions will be answered and I hope I can show you that I have changed, as a person and as a learner, because of my experiences. Thank you and I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you too.
