WHO I AM: Celebrating me and my Learning Communities

Hello Dear Readers,

I'm Alicemay, from Beacon Hill School. I am currently in year 6, in class 6P; with the best teacher I could get, Mrs Palmer. At school, something I really enjoy is the fact that I am in a class with all my dearest friends, and I do not have a super strict teacher. She still has to get mad sometimes, or else we’ll never learn right from wrong! At home, I enjoy so many things, I could make a never ending list! But my top thing is that I can spend time with my family, and they will always be there, supporting my decisions.

Believe it or not, I have 5 pets, Because some time’s my mum counts my brothers and Dad as pets. I have 2 little brothers, the youngest is Ivan, and he turned 3 on March 4th. My other brother, Kai, is to turn 5 on the 22nd of May. My Actual pet’s are Tenma and Kiki, two american short-haired cats. They are silver tabbies, which means they are grayish white, with black stripes.

I also do lots of sports; But not the common ones, like football, and basketball. I only really play board sports. Not all of them, but some of them. Since I was 5, I have been surfing. I also snowboard every winter, and I am part of a wake surfing team for Hong Kong, in a competition in September or October. But most of all I like to skate. It is my main sport, and I do it almost every day. I am on the Hong Kong Olympic team, and have joined many competitions. My first one was on a mini ramp, in the middle of Popcorn Mall with a bunch of teen-aged guys, I was only 6 years old. I made it to the finals, and in the end I got 5th place against guys that were more than double my age. That day I took home a grey and white pillow with a big ‘H’ on the grey side, and the word ‘Holly street’ on the white side in grey. I still have that pillow in my reading area right now. I took part in many competitions after that, and have never been less than top 3. My second competition I got first, bringing home my first ever trophy, my 3rd competition there were no other girls to compete with, so I was put with the men. I was against 2 of the best guy’s in Hong Kong. In the end Hong Kong's best bowl skater, Long Yu won, 0.5 points ahead of me. Probably could have tied if I hadn’t skipped a trick. My last competition was the toughest one yet. It was all the way in Sun Shine Coast, Queensland, and I was, once again, put against some of the best (kid) skaters there. In the end I got third place, and got a discount voucher for the local skate shop. I am so proud of my self for all that.

This year in Year 6, I am especially super proud of being voted house captain at school. I've always wanted to be the house captain, but I was super sad to hear that I was put against one of my closest best friends, Anna Yeung. In the end I did win, and become Yellow house Captain, and that meant so much to me!

Something I enjoyed this year was camp. Why? Why do I even need tell you! Isn’t it obvious, camp is like the best thing that happens in year 6. I was independent, and with my friends. Also, no parents to boss me around. Why else would anyone enjoy camp? Guess what I did NOT enjoy, online learning. I'm already bad at doing stuff on my computer, but online all the time? That’s like having one of my worst nightmares come to life!

I am a little bit worried about not going to a secondary school in Hong Kong, and maybe going to Australia this year, because then I won’t be able to go to the same secondary as my friends. I will have to make new friends all over again, and that's especially hard in secondary! I was really looking forward to the production, as I have always wanted to do it. Though I am not sure if it will be going on this year. I can’t wait to see my friends again! I miss them so much! I would like to get involved with a future skate club at Beacon Hill School! It's not that dangerous!

This site is designed to tell you all who I am as a learner, and to celebrate me! I want to do it in a entertaining way, so be ready for some diary entries and much more! I really hope you all enjoy my site, I want to prove being a good student, and still not really boring!

Kind Regards,
