Interpretation Service

We have a contract with a company called Language Link to provide phone interpretation services for the district. This on-demand service can be used anytime and the directions and building codes you will need to access the service are outlined below. I am hopeful this resource will help you better connect with our families and meet their needs.

Directions:

1. Dial the phone number of Language Link: 844-303-9716

2. Enter the Burlington Edison Account Code 28481

3. You will be prompted to make this third party or continue - press #2 to continue (don't need to make it 3rd party)

4. Select a language (Spanish is 1) (Yes, Mixtec is an option, but you will need to get a live operator on the line for this language and it is about 25 cents more per minute).

5. It will ask for a location Code. See Location Codes Below

6. It will ask for an id. This is not enabled. Bypass that by entering 1.

7. An interpreter will come on the line. In my trial he gave his first name and id number. He asked for the phone number of the family I was calling, how I would like to be addressed, and what to do if there was a voice mail in place.

Alternatively, you can dial the family, put them on hold and dial language link, then merge the two calls. This would be preferable if you call home and then realize you need assistance.

We are charged $0.51 a minute so try to be concise when using this. If it is a longer conversation it is ideal to have the Bilingual Resource Specialist there, but when that is not possible and for informational checks with parents this will work. Also, if a family appears unscheduled and you need interpreting help, you can call the number and put the interpreter on speaker.

Please read the tips for using an interpreter, attached.
