Marrakesh is renowned for its vibrant souks, intricate architecture, and rich cultural tapestry. I was particularly inspired by the handmade lanterns, which are a quintessential part of Marrakesh's charm. These lanterns, often crafted from metal and adorned with colourful glass, illuminate the narrow streets and courtyards with a warm, inviting glow. Historically, these lanterns have been used not only for their practical purpose of lighting but also as decorative art pieces that reflect the city's blend of Arab, Berber, and Andalusian influences. 

For Tokyo, I drew inspiration from the Japanese waving cats, also known as Maneki-neko. These charming figurines are believed to bring good luck and fortune to their owners. The Maneki-neko's origins date back to the Edo period, with various legends explaining its association with luck and prosperity. One popular story tells of a poor monk and his cat who brought fortune to a struggling temple. The raised paw of the Maneki-neko is a welcoming gesture, often seen in shops and businesses throughout Japan.
