Inspire Threads

Streetwear Branding

Since late 2022, I have had the pleasure of working with this brand, creating several mascots, logos, and designs for their clothing line. Our collaboration has resulted in visually engaging and impactful designs that enhance their brand identity and market presence

ORIGINAL BRAND MASCOT DESIGN

Before rebranding as Inspire Threads, the company was known as Discomfort Speaks Volumes. The design style was inspired by the charming characters from 1920s-30s rubber hose animation. Using the 'Volume' aspect of the name, I designed the original two mascots that embodied this vintage aesthetic.

The original mascots were a personified vintage jukebox and gramophone, designed to be cute and fun. Although these characters were never made into official logos or used on clothing, they can be found on the website as graphic elements. Their style influenced the creation of subsequent mascots and characters for the brand, maintaining a cohesive and nostalgic visual theme.

PIZZA MASCOT DESIGN

The first design project I tackled for Inspire Threads was a reversible bucket hat featuring a playful pizza theme. We explored numerous iterations, experimenting with both abstract and literal designs. After several rounds of refinement, we settled on a charming design: a pepperoni pizza character that walks and whistles.

The hat’s reverse side showcased a tileable pizza pattern, adding a touch of whimsy and continuity. This unique design quickly gained popularity at markets, especially among families with young children. The combination of the endearing pizza character and the versatile pattern made it a standout piece, resonating strongly with the target audience.

CUPID MASCOT DESIGN

The second design project was inspired by an angelic theme, featuring Cupid as the central character. This design was developed for both a hat and socks, with the interior pattern adapted for the socks. I explored several designs before settling on one that leaned into a later 1930s animation style. While not strictly rubber hose, it retained a vintage charm.

For the socks and the hat interior, I made a simple yet elegant tileable cloud pattern, complementing the angelic theme. Both the hat and socks were well-received, with the charming Cupid character doing great, especially during February.

VALENTINES MASCOT DESIGN

Created for Valentine's Day, this design features vintage-inspired elements like cloves and pie-cut eyes, but with a modern twist. It stands out with thicker, smoother outlines, which improved the embroidery process and gave the character a bolder, more striking appearance. Although it hasn't gone into production yet, the design promises to be a standout addition to the collection.
