Digital Citizenship
Digital citizenship is more than just a recommendation; it is a requirement for children, adolescents and adults to learn how to engage digitally (social media, text and direct messages, etc.) in a positive and productive way. The internet is constantly growing and changing, and your digital footprint is larger and easier to find forever. There can be consequences, both positive and negative, for things put on social media and direct messages for years after the message is shared.
Additionally, it is important to make safe choices while using the internet. Information shared from a computer screen can impact you in real life as well. The internet is a powerful tool, and needs to be respected.
Brunswick County Schools have discipline procedures that apply to things sent via social media and direct messages. The full Student Code of Conduct can be found here.
