The kids love Seesaw and it is a great way to assess student knowledge in a fun, interactive way. Seesaw is a website and an app that students can use. This tool lets students create drawings and videos about a topic. Plus, students can comment on other drawings and videos done by their peers. I have used Seesaw in all subjects and it allows me to give students a deeper experience with topics and their own learning. For example, in math, we used Seesaw to explain how to divide (this is a hard concept for 4th graders). All of my students completed an independent video of them explaining how to divide through whatever strategy they use. In science and social studies, students create pictures and videos explaining an event or core concept we are learning. In Language Arts, students read their monthly writings which give them practice on orally presenting their stories. Also, parents/guardians can have access too! That way parents/guardians can see what we are learning about and what their student is doing!
I use all three for different reasons and to switch it up a little bit. Kahoot is a great, quick, competitive assessment tool. Students love trying to become the top 3 high scorers while going over skills learned. I typically do a Kahoot to wrap up a review day before a test or quiz. Also, I let students make Kahoots over a skill we've learned or as an end of the year wrap up. The students like creating their own Kahoot that we can play in the classroom. Quizizz is like Kahoot except kids can work at their own pace, questions can be scrambled so students aren't on the same question, and of course, this tool gives you data! Students can use this tool at home for a quiz assignment to completed at home! Quizlet is very similar to Kahoot and Quizizz so Quizlet was more for independent practice and home practice. It is a great tool to go over key concepts or vocabulary.
