David Honea
Math & Computer Science Teacher
Hi and welcome to Reynolds HS Math! This is a great place to be, and I've been lucky to be able to teach and coach here since 2013. I teach all levels of math, especially AP Calculus, and I also teach computer science and programming sometimes. I am the sponsor for the ACR Math Club, and we do multiple competitions during the school year.
I love being in Asheville and the mountains. I grew up here and graduated from Enka High School. I went to N.C. State (GO WOLFPACK!) where I got bachelors and masters degrees in engineering. I started teaching in the public schools of North Carolina in 2001 in Raleigh, and also taught in the Boone area before moving to A.C. Reynolds.
In addition to teaching math, I also coach cross country and track at Reynolds. I have been a runner for most of my life. I won three state championships in high school, individual and team ACC championships at NC State, and ran in the Olympic Trials marathon. I've been fortunate to work with a lot of great teams here at Reynolds, and hope you will come out and support them, or even be a part of them.
I live really close to school and love being able to attend all the great sports and arts events taking place at Reynolds. I even walk to school most days! This has been a great place for my family, and both of my kids graduated from Reynolds HS.
