We read Thunder Rolling in the Mountains Chapters 7-11. We are starting to use the maps in our books to track the battles and the flight of the Nez Perce tribe.

We are in the middle of our book and it is riveting! As we follow the main character, Sound of Running Feet, we are paying attention to her perspective and how she differs from her father, Chief Joseph. We continue to practice summarizing each chapter.
*Library Day: Wednesday!
*🟥HW this week. Reading log in your student's Red Folder. They will need to read at home for at least 100 minutes each week (they can pick the days!) and answer three questions about their text. Reading logs will be given on Mondays and checked the following Monday. This will be for a grade. Thank you for supporting our readers at home!

*History Alive Chapter 3 - Native American Cultural Regions
*Students will begin with a webquest to research a specific tribe of their choosing and then move on to present their findings to the class. Tribes to choose from are APACHE, SEMINOLE, PUEBLO, and the SIOUX.
*Units in 5th grade SS : Geography, Native American History(Now) and Culture, Economics and Financial Literacy, The Structure and Function of Government
Grades in SS: Classwork 60%/ Assessments 40%
