The annual Teacher of the Year tradition within Buncombe County Schools recognizes teachers of exceptional skill and commitment, and is an opportunity for teachers to recognize peers who exemplify the profession and its values.

Erwin's teachers lead this process through a school-wide nomination and vote. That teacher can then choose to participate in the county-wide selection of the BCS Teacher of the Year. 

Erwin's PBIS program sponsors Warrior of the Month, which currently recognizes one member of the faculty and staff. That person is nominated and voted on by students and staff.

Warrior of the Month began in the 2018-2019 school year, paused in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 school shut down, was skipped during the 2020-2021 school year, but resumed in fall 2021.
