Erwin's PBIS program sponsors Warrior of the Month, which currently recognizes two students in each grade level in different ways. One student is nominated and voted on by peers and staff; a second student is recognized from the PBIS Rewards program and will be the student in each grade level who has received the most points for whichever core value (Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence) is the focus for that month.

Warrior of the Month began in the 2018-2019 school year and continued without interruption until being paused in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 school shut down. Warrior of the Month was skipped during the 2020-2021 school year but resumed in fall 2021.

The annual Teacher of the Year tradition within Buncombe County Schools recognizes teachers of exceptional skill and commitment, and is an opportunity for teachers to recognize peers who exemplify the profession and its values.

Erwin's teachers lead this process through a school-wide nomination and vote. That teacher can then choose to participate in the county-wide selection of the BCS Teacher of the Year.
