Skill Related Components of Fitness

  • Balance - ability to control the body while standing (static) or moving (dynamic)

  • Speed - ability to move your body in one direction or cover a specific distance in a short period of time

  • Agility - ability to accelerate, decelerate, stabilize and change direction under control

  • Power - ability to perform strength movements quickly (plyometrics)

  • Reaction time - ability to react to a stimulus as quickly as possible (see, hear, or feel)
