1st Year Research

My first year of research started over the summer of 2023 when I started finding what I was interested in researching. My main interest was coral reefs, but after I met my mentor, I was introduced to eDNA and I got extremely interested in it. Near the end of the year, I started developing my project for my second year of research. For my project, I decided to assess the differences in biodiversity of fish species due to vegetation and water depth differences in the Mianus River Gorge using eDNA. I presented my proposed research plan at the Somers Science Fair at the end of the school year.
