Bakersfield City School District runs Special Education Programs on all school sites within the Bakersfield City School District. The Core Curriculum Special Education Programs for BCSD include Mild Moderate, Blended to Core Autism, and Social Emotional Transition program placements. In each of these programs, individual students' needs are met through the IEP process, including least restrictive environment placement considerations. All Core Curriculum Special Education teachers utilize a variety of teaching strategies, differentiation, accommodations, and, when needed, modifications to provide students access to the grade-level general education curriculum and standards. Core Curriculum Special Education teachers are a part of the school site's community and collaborate with parents, general education teachers, special education teachers, intervention specialists, behavior specialists, school psychologist, and site administration to ensure that each special education student’s unique needs are addressed and supported.
