Pace yourself! If you find yourself caught up on one problem, "flag it" for review and skip to come back to it.
Never leave an answer blank... neither test penalizes for guessing. If you aren't sure, at least put an answer down!
Do not forget to bring your printed test ticket, picture ID, pencil, and calculator. The tests are strict about making sure you have all of these items.
Take advantage of sending your scores for free! Both tests allow you to send your scores to colleges, but there are deadlines. In order for it to be free, you must have chosen 4 schools before your score has come out for the ACT and up to 9 days after your scores have come out for the SAT.
This year's test dates, normal registration deadlines, late registration deadlines, and score availability are posted below. If you receive Free/Reduced Lunch and are using a fee waiver, the fee waiver will waive any late fees for late registration deadlines, but please keep in mind that only so many seats are open per test site; the sooner you register, the better. With each test, you will be given the opportunity to send your test scores to up to 4 colleges for no added cost; you have up to 9 days after scores are released to add schools. After this deadline, you will need to pay money to have your scores sent.
