History

The BC West African Music Ensemble (WAME) was founded in 2018 by Timothy R. Mangin, PhD, professor of ethnomusicology in the Department of Music. (more history about Timothy's journey to Senegal)

Classes are taught by Lamine Toure, a master drummer from one of Senegal’s oldest griot families.
