Distance Learning 2020
From Monday, August 17th, we will beginning our distance learning programme. Please check your email daily as your teachers will be contacting you.
We look forward to seeing you back at school soon!
Due to Covid-19 outbreak, teachers set up digital learning spaces. This site was designed to enable you, as a student to continue learning even while at home. Each class page above provided a range of learning opportunities for you to do.
Additionally please see the "distance learning overview" (see bottom of page) and check back here for updates.
Thank you for putting systems in place at short notice to keep your children at home. We have a skeleton staff who are supervising a handful of children whose parents are essential workers. Our priority is to keep our students, staff and community safe. Level 3 protocols and the associated hygiene practices are being strictly adhered to. A reminder that children of essential workers should not attend school if they, or a family member is unwell, or if they are at a higher risk of severe illness from Covid-19.
Teachers will continue to provide independent online distance learning for students under Level 3. If your child does not have access to a device to support their learning at home, we have a small number of school devices that are available. Physical distancing must be practiced, safe hygiene practices followed and the contact tracing register completed.
Class teachers will email their students and parents to give an update and arrange a time for the whole class to make connections
If online distance learning is extended, we will follow the approach we used previously. If you have personal queries contact your class teacher or mailbox@bbi.school.nz
Should you need immediate support, staff will be available from the staffroom from 8:15am - 10:30am. Please use the tracer app and adhere to social distancing should you need to contact a staff member in person,

Whilst at home, you may want to keep the daily structure of learning as close to normal as possible. Where possible, we are suggesting this timetable be followed. The teachers will decide on the individual activities. Your class teacher will contact you directly to discuss "meeting" times.
As you will be learning from home, we need to:
Remember that this is not a holiday. Learning will take place from 9am till 3pm.
Use this “Class Site” as well as Hapara Workspaces.
Connecting with you will be done via email and “Google Meets” using the code set by your teacher
Email information
Students will receive an email from their teacher each day.
Students must ensure they send ONE email a day to their teacher. This will be used as a roll and include any questions or a quick summary of how they are going or the work they have completed.
Google Meets information
These will always be done as a group.
Allocated times will be given for each meeting. Check the schedule OR your emails for these times.
Make sure you are in a space that is appropriate for learning and where you will not get distracted.
REMEMBER, if you are needing some more assistance or you want some more work, make sure you include this information in your daily email.
All we can ask is that you are trying your best!
