This semester-long specialty class is for students who are interested in exploring a range of painting and printmaking techniques. Drawing basics, compositional studies and color theory lead the way to expressive abstract, and sometimes realistic, acrylic paintings. Further explorations in brushwork and mark-making set the stage for making Gelli plate prints, monotypes, and linoleum block prints using an etching press. This course is an excellent opportunity to gain confidence in 2D design concepts and essential drawing skills that are used in various high school art classes and AP Art & Design courses.
