The components of M.A.T.H. workshop include:

Daily math warm up (10-15 minutes)

Mini lesson (10 -15 minutes)

M.A.T.H. practice time (40 minutes)

Share (5-10 minutes)

Unit 1 Math:

For the month of September /October your child will be working on addition and subtraction of multi digit numbers. They will begin using multiplication.

Please practice multiplication facts at home. Please encourage your child to practice through the use of flash cards and the internet.

1.1 Multiplication as Repeated Addition

1.3 Arrays and Multiplication

1.4 The Commutative Property

1.5 Division as Sharing

1.6 Division as Repeated Subtraction

1.7 Use Appropriate Tools

Represent and solve problems involving multiplication and division.

3.OA.A.1 Interpret products of whole numbers.

3.OA.A.2 Interpret whole-number quotients of whole numbers.

3.OA.A.3 Use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems in situations involving equal groups, arrays, and measurement quantities. Understand properties of multiplication and the relationship between multiplication and division.

3.OA.B.5 Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide.

Math grading policy:

Test grades are measured with a number grade. Exit tickets are scored with three possible scores -above level (✓+), benchmark (✓), and below level (✓-). Students struggling with concepts will be pulled for small group instruction Classwork/Teamwork/Participation- Informal observation will guide small group instruction. In class projects are also graded with the check system.
