*The BBES School District will continue to be diligent with monitoring COVID-19 positivity levels for our students as well as within our school community. Our District will continue to implement the CDC, NJDOH, and Governor Sherrill's directives and adjust school health protocols accordingly as per the guidelines and mandates established by these agencies.*
The Main Office is the first point of contact when a COVID-19 situation occurs. If a student tests positive for COVID-19 or is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, please contact both the Main Office at ext. 115 pr 110 as well as the School Nurse ( ext. 117 or may email at: mcarlsson@bbesnj.org ).
QUARANTINE (for students who are symptomatic): Given current CDC updates, the District will no longer quarantine students. The District expects students who are symptomatic of COVID-19, or any other respiratory illnesses, to remain home and consult with a healthcare professional. Medical documentation for days missed should be submitted to the BBES Attendance Officer.
ISOLATION (for students with a confirmed positive COVID-19 diagnosis): After testing positive for COVID-19 students may return to school only when AFTER 24 Hours both are true:
Student's symptoms are improving (getting better) overall, and
Student is FEVER FREE without using fever-reducing medication (such as Tylenol or Advil).
Students who are absent from school due to a COVID-19 related situation will be marked as an unexcused absence per state guidelines. Students who submit confirmation of a positive COVID-19 test result from a medical professional are eligible to have their COVID-19 related absences reviewed and excused through District policy at the conclusion of the school year.
*Note: This does not ensure all COVID-19 related absences will be designated as excused.*
For students who are subject to Exclusion, work will be posted in Google Classroom and can be completed asynchronously. Parents/Guardians can contact their student’s teacher(s) as needed to ensure continuity of instruction and to inquire about make-up work.
*Hand Hygiene, Respiratory Etiquette, & Social Distancing*
Our District will teach and reinforce proper hand washing and cough/sneeze etiquette throughout the school year.... Please remember that Social Distancing &/or Masking can still be performed when in public areas to help decrease the overall risk of contracting illnesses spread by respiratory air droplets.
