Mrs Cruickshank is the lead on attendance. She monitors this daily and follows our attendance policy to support students and families with attendance that is below 90%. Working alongside Mrs Cruickshank is Mrs Harrison and Mrs Osbourne.

In collaboration with the Learning Managers the attendance team aim to offer help and find practical solutions to any problems that pose as a barrier to school attendance. We use the ATTEND Framework, a resource developed by Dr Adele Tobias from Brighton & Hove Educational Psychology Service, which has been introduced to all local authorities including North Lincolnshire.
“The ATTEND Framework was developed within Brighton & Hove City Council as an early intervention programme for school-aged pupils between 5 and 16 years when attendance drops below 90%. It aims to identify all of the contributing factors when attendance is low. The ATTEND Framework is not intended as an open checklist but a way to frame a conversation, or series of conversations, with a family within a trusting and collaborative relationship".
The ATTEND framework is designed to capture all the contributing factors which may be impacting on a young person's school attendance. At Baysgarth School we use this as an early intervention tool when attendance falls, to find ways forward.
Each ATTEND Framework comprises three assessment forms:
for education professionals working within the local authority children’s workforce;
for students; and
for parents or carers
The ATTEND framework supports us at school to identify what it is about going to school that the student is finding most difficult. The forms are completed alongside the student and family, as part of a discussion, and this may need to take place outside of school. The questions touch on sensitive and personal areas including:-
Anxiety
Health & Wellbeing
Sensory Factors
Social Factors
Academic Factors
Factors Relating to Change
Family Factors
Other Factors
Maintenance/secondary factors
The information gathered from these questionnaires will then support school professionals to engage with students and families in a collaborative process to put together an effective support plan.
