This summer, our goal is to review the basics of ratios, and solving/plotting functions. These skills are necessary for most scientific fields: whether we work with healthcare, the elements, or even the human brain, we're always measuring or analyzing some data and drawing conclusions from it. Although our program is based around "Computational Neuroscience," these basic topics of math are essential to many fields of interest and are valuable to all students.
A ratio is a relationship between two numbers, showing the relative size of two or more like values.
A function shows relations between inputs and outputs. Each input in a function can have only one output. The inputs classify as the domain, while the outputs classify as the range.
A line plot is a graph that depicts some kind of data resembled through points. A good website to make your own graphs on is Desmos.
