Math Studio is a collaborative learning space for students to experience learning mathematics in a new way. My vision is to create an environment that ensures that students have flexible options that maximize engagement so that they reach their full potential. The best way to describe it is for you to see this model in action.

Blended Instruction
Blended Instruction
Lecture in class is replaced by instructional videos that I have created. Students will complete the guided notes that accompany the lesson videos at home. Time in class will be used for teacher support, collaboration with peers, and feedback.
Self-Paced Structure
Self-Paced Structure
By replacing one-size-fits-all pacing with flexible structures, students have the time they need to learn and are always appropriately challenged. I will provide "on pace" guidelines to help students complete the coursework for each semester.
Mastery-Based Grading
Mastery-Based Grading
Students must demonstrate thier understanding by completing a Mastery Check for each lesson within a unit of study. This ensures that students build a strong foundation prior to moving on to more advanced material in the course.

Choice in when to attend class:
Choice in when to attend class:
Students may attend class more than two days a week in our current model when they need extra help
Students may remain in class for an extended period past the block time if their schedule allows
Students may take the course as an Independent Study course and attend class as needed, at least once a week
Running Start students may attend Mon/Fri or Tue/Thurs to better suit their Clark schedule as an Independent Study student
