Math Studio

What is Math Studio?

Math Studio, previously known as Math Lab, is a collaborative learning space for students to experience learning mathematics in a new way.  My vision is to create an environment that ensures that students have flexible options that maximize engagement so that they reach their full potential.  The best way to describe it is for you to see this model in action.

Watch this short video to discover how powerful a student-centered blended learning model can be:

Why Choose Math Studio?

Math Studio is modeled after a Modern Classroom, watch the short video to learn about the advantages of this learning environment.

What will it look like at RHL?

Blended Instruction

Lecture in class is replaced by instructional videos that I have created.  Students will complete the guided notes that accompany the lesson videos at home.  Time in class will be used for teacher support, collaboration with peers, and feedback.

Self-Paced Structure

By replacing one-size-fits-all pacing with flexible structures, students have the time they need to learn and are always appropriately challenged.  I will provide "on pace" guidelines to help students complete the coursework for each semester.

Mastery-Based Grading

Students will complete Mastery Checks within each  unit of study prior to moving on to more advanced material.  At the end of each topic, students will also demonstrate their knowledge through a summative assessment, task, or project.
