Welcome

Hello and welcome to the 2nd Semester of the 2020-21 school year!

If you are new to my class for 2nd semester, welcome! We are about to embark on an interesting journey together, and I’m sure that some of you are a little nervous about remote learning, but I would like to invite you to join me in embracing this opportunity to “do” school differently – really, it’s kind of exciting!

For those of you who have survived our first semester of 100% remote learning - WELL DONE!

Some Things to Keep in Mind While We are Working Together

  • Please make sure to pick up materials from RHL - for my class materials for pickup are the Envision textbook and the packet of guided notes.

  • Students will have coursework assigned in google classroom on Monday, February 1st. I will send invites to student's BG email accounts. If your student did not recieve an invite, please contact me at vandermolen.quincy@battlegroundps.org. When emailing me please include your student's first and last name, and their class information. For example: Joe Student in Geometry Monday/Thursday block 2.

  • Students will have coursework assigned in google classroom twice a week: Mondays by 8:00 AM and Thursdays by 8:00 AM (even for Tuesday/Friday classes). My hope is that this will simplify each lesson's resources and help you to pace yourself. I will not post new assignments on holidays that fall on Mondays or Thursdays.

  • I have designed my classes to allow students choice within the framework that I provide to ensure that students meet the learning standards of the course. This gives students more flexibility than they may be used to in a math course so it is imperative that the parent/guardian is in-tune with weekly coursework completion by engaging with the student in the learning process.

  • In an effort to not bombard you with a ton of emails, I will use google classroom to communicate with students/families regarding the math courses that I teach. Please access your student's google classroom where you will find the resources for each lesson.

  • Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns so that we can work together as we embark on this learning adventure. I truly want your family to be successful in my class, I can't help if I'm not aware of a problem. The easiest way to contact me is by email: vandermolen.quincy@battlegroundps.org. I do my best to respond to emails by the next day if not sooner.

  • I strongly encourage families new to my class and/or new to RHL to schedule a time for us to meet. Use the button below to access my calendar to set an appointment during my Office Hours. I will set up the ZOOM meeting after you have selected your day/time.

I am here to support you, please let me know how I can help!

Take care,

Mrs. Vander Molen
