Within the scope of a full remote style learning, we will strive to operate as if we are in person. These objectives follow a project based path.
Planning
-Pre-design: what you are going to build?
-Scale: How big is it going to be?
-Materials: what type of materials will you be using?
Prep
Sanding:
-Do you need to sand before you assemble?
Understanding Grain
What is grain?
What are the different types of wood? (Hard versus Soft)
Which way do we sand?-What grit do you use?
Types of grit ( 40/60/80/100/120/400/1000 and up)
What is grit?
How do they come up with the number for grit?
Building
Ask permission (both at home and in the shop), remember Safety Rule #1.
Assembly
Do I have the tools I need to do the job, if not who do I ask and where do I get them?
Tools for the projects:
-Glue
Types of glue: Elmer's, Wood, Super, etc.
-Hammers
Types of hammers: Nailing, dead-blows, finishing, jack, etc.
-Nails or Screws
-Sandpaper
Finishing
Final design
How are you going to finish the job, will you :
Paint it?
Will you paint a design? Solid Color?
Stain it?
STICKERS?!?
