This year we've worked hard doing "digital learning". I'd encourage you to make sure your child steps away from the computer, reduce screen time, and practice their skills in their everyday activities. Language happens at the breakfast table, at the park, on the phone with grandma, in the car, or playing with siblings! Here's a list of activities you can do that DON'T include a screen.
Read lots of books and encourage your child to retell the stories. You can work on answering wh- questions and sequencing.
Play a board game. Have your child explain the rules to the game. You can target sequencing (e.g., "First,..., Next...., Last..."). List of great language board games can be found here.
Illustrate your vocabulary list.
Have conversations in the car - ask open ended questions such as "how, why" and try to get your child to expand what they're talking about.
Write a story or comic strip. Encourage full sentences and different sentence types.
