1. Brief description and aims of module:
Understanding and experience from your level 5 studies, to underpin a self-directed experimental textile design project.
By developing a personal project, you set the parameters, and clearly define your intentions, within a planned time schedule. This module gives you the opportunity to explore new methods and expand, and consequently confirm, your personal style of work. The outcome should demonstrate understanding and resolution of selected experimental ideas into sample collections or product prototypes.
The module is supported by a series of technical demonstrations and you will select which appropriate sessions to attend for your developing practice.
2.Outline syllabus:
This module presents you with the opportunity to develop and refine your specialist portfolio.
This syllabus is studio centred and is designed to enable students to sustain an in-depth material enquiry supported through their effective and proactive engagement with the relevant technical workshops and expertise.
Studio based critiques and work reviews will promote an advanced ability to critically reflect on the problems and strengths in your work informed by an authoritative subject knowledge and understanding.
One to one tutorials are key to the teaching and learning philosophy of the discipline and you are expected to proactively engage in this reflective dialogue. Group tutorials or discussions are also central to this module and your engagement in this peer learning is seen as essential to the generosity and energy of the level 6 community.
At the end of the module you will exhibit your work in an end of year show alongside your graduating cohort.
