1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module aims to provide students with the opportunity to explore in depth specialist fields that build upon and go beyond the core areas in psychology with the guidance of an expert.
Topics will differ depending on the expertise of the staff teaching on the module but will be drawn from one or more areas within psychology including, but not limited to: cognitive, behavioural, social, developmental, evolutionary or social psychology; neuroscience, neuropsychology; organisational psychology; health psychology; clinical psychology and mental health.
2. Outline syllabus:
The syllabus will tailored to the specific advanced topic, but will cover the following as they relate to that field:
Key theories and concepts
The history of the topic area
Contemporary research and current challenges
Relevant methodologies
Applications of theory
3. Teaching and learning activities:
Lectures and seminars to a total three hours of contact time each week.
Lectures will introduce core topics. Seminars will be used to extend or explore these topics in depth. This will include a range of activities such as small-group work and discussions, presentations, practicals, and activities directly related to the assessments.
