1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module explores how research in music leads to the creation of a product, ranging from cultural policy to the production of an event or podcast series. How music research is disseminated is a central area of study in this module, placing importance on innovation and collaborative working. You focus on research in music that leads to the development of work that can influence and affect change in a positive sense through music.
The module aims to:
Explore the relationship between music research and product
Examine means of dissemination of music research
Engender approaches that will influence and affect change through music research
2. Outline syllabus:
You work as part of a small team to conceptualise and build a research-led project. The output of this project is a product designed to innovate and explore interesting ways to disseminate musical research. You accompany the practical project with a written commentary that focuses on the process you undertake in bringing your project to fruition. Workshops and seminars support weekly lectures on aspects of methodology and research issues.
