1. Brief description and aims of module: 

The Professional Context modules are focused on the professional world. This module aims to comprehensively extend your knowledge of contemporary designers and of key issues in contemporary design, for example sustainability, environment and heritage.

You will also be encouraged to consolidate your knowledge of the different sectors in interior design. Using this knowledge and that of contemporary designers, you will be asked to reflect on where your practice is situated in the broader context of the contemporary design field.

2.Outline syllabus:

You will be asked to gather all your project work into a portfolio and prepare a CV in preparation for work in a design studio.

The syllabus includes:

• Research skills

• Writing skills

• Practical making

• Time management

• Personal planning

• Documentation

• Reflection on learning

• Communication and presentation skills

3.Teaching and learning activities:

This is a seminar based module which will usually include:

• Staff & Student presentations

• Record keeping, documentation and display of tasks completed

• Independent working

• Group discussion, critique and peer review
