1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module requires you to develop a capsule collection of three outfits and is the culmination of your previous learning. It is structured around the three main stages of designing for fashion: research, design development and presentation. The module centres around your self-defined creative brief and final fashion portfolio that is relevant to your career aims.
2.Outline syllabus:
The module provides you with the opportunity to extend and deepen your interests in a specific area of fashion, and define your personal practise within a fashion collection. In this module, you will make choices about the direction of your work and develop a fashion collection articulated towards a specific target market and your career aims. The module provides you with the opportunity to explore and challenge your ideas through complex enquiry.
You will define your own personal direction within a brief that defines the framework for your collection and will be supported in developing your collection through in-depth research, deepening your understanding of the context for your collection. The module also provides you with the opportunity to further fabric development and technical knowledge through product development of your collection through to resolved toile outcomes. You are encouraged to consider your standpoint on ethical, social and sustainable perspectives.
You will also start to build your final professional fashion portfolio by entering a minimum of one national design competition as well as delivery of a personal project based on sound market research identifying a target market, and company within in it, to design an appropriate forward-thinking collection.
3.Teaching and learning activities:
Will usually include:
Staff presentations and workshops
Group and individual tutorials and critical reviews
Personal presentation, documentation of work
Independent working on directed project work
Active participation in taught sessions and directed learning.
