1. Brief description and aims of module:
Education Secondary Independent Project Part 1 allows you to consider in depth an issue related to secondary practice. This could be to do with an aspect of curriculum in your subject specialism, teaching and learning or supporting transition.
The module enables you to write a literature review of your chosen issue, to conduct an educational research, investigate potential resources that might be use in the classroom or by teachers and finally to design a resource of your own that will potentially address the issues relating to your chosen topic.
You will be expected to work independently, exploring your chosen topic thoroughly form a number of critical perspectives.
You will produce a formative 500 word outline plan of your chosen issue and resource design
You will produce a formative 1000 words research proposal. You will also complete the ethics approval as a mandatory requirement for any students who conduct a research at the Bath Spa University. You will also complete a summative assessment - Dissertation Part 1 - 4000 words.
In order to support your research, you will be assigned a project supervisor who will be able to assist you with your exploration of the issues and project design. In addition there will be range of online resources designed to support the development of your project and personalised learning.
