1.Brief description and aims of module
The module develops advanced creative and technical skills related to Audio Post Production for Film and Television.
The module aims to enable you to:
Develop a high-level understanding of, and expertise in the application of industry standard hardware and software used in audio post-production for film and TV.
Develop a critical awareness of industry sound design practice.
Develop a sophisticated approach to sound design and music that responds sensitively to narrative, action and drama within visual media.
2.Outline syllabus
The module introduces key concepts and principles related to Audio Post Production and Sound Design practice.
Module content areas include:
Audio Post Production Workflow
Collaborative practice, Communication skills and Director briefing
Advanced Sound Design, Musical Scoring, Foley and Field Recording skills
Sound Editing (Dialogue/ADR, Production Audio and Sound Effects)
Dubbing Mixing
Sound Supervision
3.Teaching and learning activities
Lectures will introduce key concepts and principles, whilst workshops will introduce various specialised audio post production skill sets. A primary component of this module is that you will take a specialised role within a collaborative audio post production team, resembling industry practice. Regular group tutorial support will be provided, and final film projects are presented at a cinema screening.
