1. Brief description and aims of module:
This module prepares you for work as professional soundtrack composers, developing the skills to create musical scores to picture for a diverse range of commercial project briefs. You will deliver a portfolio of work that demonstrates contemporary composition and production methods.
The module aims to enable you to:
Explore a range of scoring conventions for film and TV productions
Develop compositional skills to respond to the narrative content of media projects
Develop an ability to interpret and creatively respond to commercial briefs
2. Outline syllabus:
Areas that will be covered include:
Soundtrack composition using a digital audio workstation
Scoring Techniques and composition strategies
Analytic and creative responses to commercial briefs
Working methods and industry practices for soundtrack composers
3. Teaching and learning activities:
The module will be delivered in the form of lectures and workshops. Each week you will complete composition tasks and receive feedback on your progress as you develop the skills needed for portfolio and project assessment work.
